Wooooow!! Congratulations!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I'm thinking about buying a kindle this year,,, and, yes! I'm definetly reading your books once I do it!
And I gotta say... even loving printed books the way I do, at least here in Brazil they're just getting more expensive every day! So don't be upset about not having a publisher, or things like that... Within 5 years almost everyone will have a personal library in theirs tablets!!!

And continue writting, cause I'm sure I'll love your books and will be extremely annoying, asking more and more books all the time!

Bye!!!

Thank you! So you pronounce Versailles as Ver-sales? :)

I've always wanted to visit Kentucky - I was insanely into horse racing as a youngster and was always making plans to go to Kentucky and meet Steve Cauthen! ;)

Oh you are so sweet - thank you! I'm so glad that you are enjoying the Marie Antoinette book so much. It was definitely intended to be a light hearted romp of a book, with no foreshadowing of what was to come for the poor woman. :)

I am very interested in LaFayette and his family. Adrienne, his wife, sounds like she was a bit of a character! I was very moved to see their graves in the cemetery at Picpus in Paris, beside the two grave pits from the Terror.

I love that you have places named after him. :)

You prompted me to go check a few old volumes on the shelf but none have more than a name or price. I've seen some nice ones in old bookshops though over the years but that is a really lovely example. So tempting to lose a few hours researching the people and places. Not unlike the curiosity old tombstones ignite.

I write in my own books, often also in books I've given as gifts. I've still got books I inherited from the family bookshelves (or liberated from the charity shop box). My Complete Works of Shakespeare is the copy my Mum took to school in the sixties. I like to think some of my books are only held in trust for when Spawn is old enough to enjoy them.

I have been enjoying very much you Diary of a Princess. After reading all the books about MA fatal end it is most pleasant to read your sweet account of her youth. Sadly I am going slow with it because it is on my phone and takes me time getting used to finding the time. After work for a refresher I head to the nearest Mickie D's for a dollar and six cent ice tea and will read your book. But you book half way through has been very lovely.
My last pulp read was about Madame LaFayette and her experience during the Revolution. I am now reading an old book about LaFayette himself. His involvement with the royals and the Revolution I found compelling and I was fascinated with him anyway since he helped us during our revolution. (Sorry don't mean to bring up any ill will here).
Did you know that because of Frances' aid to our revolution many places have been named in their honor. For instance the ciry I reside is Louisville, Kentucky

I suppose I am free to disbelieve the experts. I think Henry's sister Mary is a much better match. This lady has everything from ruddy hair to a rather flattish forehead and fair eyebrows, very like Henry.

I have visited the Throckmorton house and seen that chemise but I'm afraid I see Mary Queen of Scots as a feckle and vain woman who made stupid choices that displayed none of the political astuteness that kept her cousin Elizabeth on the throne. As for the Austen quote, she was known for her wicked sense of humour and she did write that 'history' as entertainment for her family, not as a serious historical document so I'm inclined to read it as satire. But the whole cult of personality is interesting - how some figures are idealised and made into heroes when in fact we know very little about them - including our dear Jane who would be surprised at her fame, I think.

As a fan of Mary, myself, I am delighted by the Austen quote!

Re Mary's continuing appeal, well, some of us (part-Irish, it must be said) do love a martyr. And I feel very much that Mary faced a life where the deck was stacked, and not in her favor. Those Scottish nobles, her half brother chief among them! Her first husband's untimely death, which propelled Mary to Scotland in the first place! The accusations against Mary for her second husband's death! How the nobles of Scotland dragged Mary's son away! It boggles my mind, long years of captivity aside, that Mary survived so long and which such gravitas.
